Juice and raw veggie cleanse

I have decided to embark on a journey to cleanse my body of toxins and excess waste, I researched the benefits of a juice cleanse and decided to try it for 30 days. During this cleanse I will  be consuming only juices and smoothies. some benefits of juicing are:
  1. reduce your risk of cancer,
  2.  boost your immune system 
  3. remove toxins from your body
  4.  aids in digestion
  5. helps you lose weight
There are also some side effects which are

  1. including lack of fiber (since it is removed and turned in to the pulp during juicing process)
  2. Increased blood sugar levels from fruit juice intake.
But I plan to reduce these issues by using the pulp from the veggies in the smoothies and also only using  fruit as a sweetener in the juices.

I believe that this journey will aid in my weight loss process pushing me towards my goals. During the beginning of this process you will face hunger and temptation. A juicing cleanse can be accomplished with determination.

I will post recipes and give weekly update of how my body and mind is doing as I make my way though this 30 day cleanse.

Potato Hash

This Potato Hash is delicious and affordable it will keep you full until lunch and give you the energy needed to start your day. I gathered these ingredients from my local Shoprite Supermarket.
I am making this recipe with left over sweet potatoes that I chopped and stored in the freezer, which is an excellent way to preserve fruits and veggies that are near spoilage.

Ingredients
  1. 4 cups chopped potato 
  2. 1/2 cup sweet onion
  3. 1 tsp of minced garlic
  4. 1 cup chopped kale or green veg of choice
  5. 1/2 cup red pepper
  6. 4 eggs or half a block or tofu
  7. 1 tbs of olive oil
  8. salt and pepper to taste

Directions
  1.  Heat olive oil in sauté pan then add onion and garlic sauté until translucent (do not let garlic brown)
  2. Add in red pepper and potato sauté until tender 
  3. add in kale and cook until kale starts to wilt
  4. add in your eggs or tofu cook (if adding tofu only cook until heated though)
  5. Season to taste.

Vegetarian Chili

               Vegetarian Chili with a side of Sweet Potato

This chili can be served with any side of your liking but I prefer to eat it with a delicious baked sweet potato. This meal is not only delicious but affordable I gathered my ingredients from my local Aldi Supermarket. 



INGREDIENTS FOR CHILI 
  1. 1 can chickpeas 
  2. 1 can corn
  3. 1 can chili beans
  4. 1 can kidney beans 
  5. 1 pack of low sodium chili seasonings 
  6. salt and pepper (season to taste)
  7. 1 jar of favorite tomato sauce
  8. half a can of tomato paste
  9. 1/2 cup water 
DIRECTIONS.
  1. Wash and strain chickpeas,corn, and kidney beans and add to a large pot with chili beans.
  2. Add Chili seasonings, salt and pepper to pot and stir.
  3. Add tomato paste, and tomato sauce in to pot, then in empty tomato sauce jar add a 1/2 cup of water and empty into pot and stir.
  4. Simmer on med heat for 20 min
  5. let cool and add to meal prepping container with side of your choosing.
Sweet Potato
  1. Pre heat over to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. spray pan with non-stick spray
  3. Placed washed potato in pan
  4. cook for 30-40 min until fork tender
The total cost of the chili is $3.83 
I was able to create 5 dinners with this recipe
The bag of sweet potatoes was 4.00 and contains 8 potatoes
